Valdeazores-historia

If we have curiosity of knowing the history of these lands we discover that because of the difficulties of the access, and on another part because of the remoteness from the natural routes of communication, all of this area got partly inhabited for a long period of time.

The ownership of this vast region, after the period of ‘La Reconquista’, was owned by the Cabildo de la Catedral de Toledo and it stayed like this for a long period, until the start of the politics of secularization in time of Mendizabal.

We do not know the persons that acquired this place, until the end of the XIX century when German evangelical missionaries where interested on them.  Their reasons to come to this lands where two, first  the existence of a resettlement of German carried out in the time of Charles III which they had detected, second, the isolated character of the region, they thought that this could help their evangelist objective.

This purpose had no success, but the property was hold in the power of the missionaries for almost hundred years in which it was dedicated to the agriculture, mostly growing cereal as it was so little in our country and for leisure of the evangelist colony which exist in Madrid. This is the reason why La Raña de Valdeazores is also know as La Raña del Alemán (The plain of the German).
